Connections with community across The Kimberley

Marrugeku has just wrapped three weeks in The Kimberley, sharing our latest work Jurrungu Ngan-ga [Straight Talk] with communities in Kununurra, Fitzroy Crossing and Derby.

Our powerful contemporary performance took place across new stages — under the open sky at Kununurra Picture Gardens, and within Fitzroy Valley High School and Derby Recreation Centre.

With a touring team of sixteen cast, crew and creatives, we were able to connect with over 700 audience members from remote small towns in the Kimberely through six performances. On public community pages members shared:

“These awesome artists are so talented and very inspiring. It’s amazing how their body languages talked to you, one could feel the energy, the sadness, the resilience. It is a powerful production, Derby is so lucky to have you here. Thank you Marrugeku for coming to Derby. Really Derby people, it is a rare find in our town, go there tonight!”
