Marrugeku relies on a broad mix of income sources, like all non-profit arts companies. Performance fees earned in Australia and around the world are a vital component and we work hard to achieve them. Grants from state and federal governments and NGOs are likewise a key factor in our continued operations. As well, Marrugeku enjoys wonderfully productive partnerships with organisations across Australia and around the world that commission or co-commission our work.
Nevertheless, all these never quite match the need. There remain projects and programs that do not attract fees or box office revenue and which may fall between the cracks in public funding.
More and more we rely on the generosity of individual donors to help fill that gap. In the past few years such contributions have enabled Marrugeku to undertake youth workshops in the Kimberley, intercultural choreographic laboratories (in New Caledonia, New Zealand, the Kimberley etc) and a three-year mentorship program for mid-career dance makers across Australia. Your support will help us continue this work and ensure a productive future for our dynamic company.
All donations make an impact and being part of our philanthropy family means you will receive special invitations to meet the cast and creatives at donor events, preview performances of new works and acknowledgement in Marrugeku publications. Marrugeku’s private giving program provides you with the opportunity to choose your donation amount.
The wide ranging tides of the Kimberley region that provide enrichment to the environment, are our donor levels that similarly reflect the nourishment and support to Marrugeku, its people and programs.
