Born and raised in Broome, Anthea spent much of her life deeply connected to her home community, briefly venturing away only to attend boarding school in Perth and Geraldton.

Her identity is shaped by a rich multi-ethnic tapestry. Growing up in Broome during the pearling heyday, in a vibrant multicultural bubble, gave Anthea a unique childhood experience. This strong connection to her Aboriginal and Asian heritage and her extended families, fuels the passion for protecting her hometown’s true identity against the tides of rapid commercialisation, social issues, and environmental change.

Professionally, Anthea dedicated much of her career to the education sector, while also gaining valuable experience in other industries.

Alongside her professional career, Anthea constantly immersed herself in grassroots community projects that champion cultural diversity, honours true histories, and promote environmental respect. As a proud mother of two wonderful children, she wants them to have a deep insight into and know the rich history of their roots and heritage.

Outside of work, Anthea loves exploring the world and learning from different cultures. Having joined Marrugeku at the end of 2025, she is happy to be working for a dynamic company where creativity and purpose align with her values, beautifully nurturing her hopes to broaden cultural awareness and respect in a more peaceful sustainable world.
