Within the walls of Carriageworks we’ve been busy supporting the future of contemporary dance with our development and presentation program Burrbgaja Yalirra.
The multiyear program of intensive dance research laboratories and short new works is in its second iteration, supporting the creation of three new works by New South Wales and Western Australia-based artists Bhenji Ra, Ses Bero, Stan Nalo, and Emmanuel James Brown.
Curated by our Artistic Co-Directors, Yawuru/Bardi choreographer Dalisa Pigram and Anglo Pākehā director Rachael Swain, Burrbgaja Yalirra invests in the next generation of change makers in community and culturally informed dance.
Burrbgaja Yalirra 2 will premiere at Carriageworks in April before touring to Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts.
