Marrugeku’s Carriageworks masterclass program

About

Each year Marrugeku offers a two-day masterclass at Carriageworks in Sydney to share the core cultural and choreographic processes which underpin Marrugeku’s approach to contemporary dance theatre. The Masterclasses are led by either Marrugeku’s co-artistic directors or the company’s guest choreographers and are open to dancers of all backgrounds, physical theatre performers and actors interested in improvisational movement processes to generate theatre.

Marrugeku’s 2019 Masterclass will be led by Belgian dramaturg Hildegard De Vuyst

7 & 8 December 2019

Hildegard de Vuyst, current resident dramaturg of Belgium’s famous contemporary dance theatre company les ballets C de la B and the Marseille Festival, France, will run a dramaturgy masterclass for dance and theatre markers, live art practitioners and anyone who initiates and creates live performance. The workshop will explore the multifaceted challenges of the construction of meaning in performance, of time and how to play tricks with it, to understand what those tricks tell about your vision of life. Taking the perspective that dramaturgy is a translation of deep beliefs and values transferred into a piece of live art.
